West Stockbridge Select Board Approves Public Market Liquor License Transfer to New Owners
WEST STOCKBRIDGE — August 7, 2023 — West Stockbridge Select Board unanimously approved an all-alcohol liquor license transfer at the Public Market to incoming owner Stockbridge Market, LLC. Attorney Matthew Porter told the board that Kamala Patel holds a 95 percent stake in the LLC, with a second owner named Darsh comprising the remainder; both are alcohol-tip certified and plan no changes to the store's current sales mix. The board also approved a pledge of the license to lender Eastern Funding. In a separate unanimous vote, David Evans was elevated from alternate to full member of the Conservation Commission after a sitting member resigned. During citizen speak, property owner Carden Raven urged the board not to remove Oak Street from town road maintenance, citing the street's role as home to 23 jobs, the town's largest restaurant, and its largest co-working space; Chair Andrew Krouss noted that any road abandonment requires a town meeting vote. The board closed with a report that a regional broadband contract covering eight Berkshire-area towns had arrived and was awaiting signatures.
