WEST STOCKBRIDGE — Select Board approves appointments and grants amid fiscal-year budget shortfall. The board unanimously appointed John Orloff to the Vision Committee and Kadin Shafiroff as a West Stockbridge Police Officer; approved renewal of the Berkshire Health Alliance community health services contract; and authorized Town Administrator Marie Ryan and Affordable Housing Trust Chair Chris Powell to pursue a $58,862 state grant under the Seasonal Communities designation for housing and infrastructure projects, with the Planning Board to be included in a joint application. The town must also bring four articles to a Special Town Meeting to address fiscal-year budget deficits totaling property and casualty insurance, investigative services, Town Counsel legal costs, and a 16 percent increase in health, life, and dental insurance--all unforeseen when the budget was adopted.
