WEST STOCKBRIDGE — Select Board addresses police station asbestos discovery in emergency meeting. Director of Public Works Curt Wilton reported that potential asbestos was found during a Police Department renovation walkthrough on January 5, prompting Chair Andrew Krouss to order the station vacated as a precautionary measure and engage Abide Company for inspection and testing. Police Chief Nicole Miller confirmed the department remains fully operational from Town Hall with no service interruptions.
Test results are expected Friday afternoon, and if positive, remediation will begin the following week with officers returning by week's end.
