Parks and Recreation Committee reviews budget strategy, Sparkles event.

Parks and Recreation · Meeting of January 12, 2026

West Stockbridge Parks and Recreation Committee unanimously approved prior minutes and voted to shift from labor-intensive town events toward park improvements. Joe Roy presented a detailed prior-year budget breakdown the committee will submit to the Finance Committee with a request for increased funding. The committee also directed Roy to request quarterly account condition reports from town staff, effective immediately.

Members discussed phasing out lower-attendance events such as the Card Pond party, redirecting reserved funds to park upgrades and a smaller Trick or Treat concession stand instead of a costume party.
